Years ago, a highly respected man bought a trendy convenience store. At the counter, he placed a large pickle jar with a sign that read,
“Please consider giving 10¢ to feed hungry children. I, too, will put in 10¢ in when you do.”
Every time a customer would drop money into the jar, the owner would reach into his cash register for a dime. At the end of the week, the owner would pour the money out of the jar and back into his register. One week, a woman saw the owner do this. The woman said to the owner,
“Sir. Your sign says the money is for hungry children.”
At that very moment, two small children ran to the front of the store from a room in the back, climbed onto the stool, and said,
“Papa. We are hungry.”
